LF= Diam x 3.1417 /2
(LF is also width of bags)
A basket measures 10" across it (diam), you would use our 18" wide bags, since 15.71" is close to 18", and you need a little extra to work with. 15.71" = 10" basket diameter X 3.1417  divided by  2

(Pie=3.1417, FIXED#)

For this Example, use the following bags:

SB1818 or SB1824 depending on depth of bag you need.

LF= Circ / 2
(Lf is also width of bag)
A basket measures 42" around it (circ) you would use our 22" wide bag, since 21" is close to 22", and you need a little extra to work with. 21" = 42" basket circumference / 2 For this Example, use the following bag:

SB2226 bag, provided the 26" is high enough for you needs.

Other basic formulas & numbers you may need: Circ= 3.1417 X Diameter

Diameter = Circ / 3.1417

If YOUR item is circular, the width and length are considered the same. ANY PROBLEMS, QUESTIONS, ETC. CALL OUR 800#

HOW TO FIGURE SHRINK ROLL FILM SIZE FOR YOUR PRODUCTS

  • Your actual product has 3-dimensions: Length , Width and Height (*depth).
    (if circular W & L are the same). Inches are the unit of measurement here.

  • In order to figure what film size you will need, (and ultimately the correct machine size), you must do a little math to arrive at the correct size for the film and machine.
  • First, understand that the ("WIDTH*" as used here) can be either the Length* or the Width* of the actual product! Width in the formula refers to the measurement in relation to the film, you can use your length as a "Width" number. In many instances you will apply the formula twice to see which makes more sense to your needs:
  • FORMULA: (Product "WIDTH*") + Height + 2-Inches + (Round-up) = Film Size.
  • EXAMPLE: A box is 12" Wide x 18" Long x 2" Deep (high) ...... here's how to figure it:
    Example #1)- 12"w + 2"d +2"= 16" (Use 16" Film, on an 18" or larger sealer - Length is 18" on 2nd seal that's why 18" min. sealer).
    - - - - - (OR try the other way):

    Example #2)-
    18"w* + 2"d + 2"= 22" (Use 22" Film on a 24" or 25" or larger sealer)
    *This will give best film yield, but the equipment will cost more initially.
  • WHY: In Example #1 above: You will be using 20-running inches of film material (18"x2") for each package, and you will need an 18" sealer to handle the 2nd cut. You will be using 20" of film for each box.
    In Example #2 above: You will be using 14-running inches of film material (12"x2") for each package, and your sealer will be wide enough to handle the 2nd cut!
  • It is cheaper to use 14-running in. of film from a 22" wide roll, per package than to use 20-running in. of film from a 16" wide roll.
  • CONFUSING, HOPEFULLY NOT, But I will be glad to review it with you by Phone: 1-800-845-6839 and ask for Mike or Jackie.

HOW TO FIGURE SHRINK BAG SIZES

        Items Needed: Heat gun, Tape, Ribbons, (Bows or other accent items).

  • Open the bag and place it over the basket and secure with tape at the bottom.

  • Gather and tuck extra wrap under your basket and secure with tape.

  • Proceed with shrinking the wrap by aiming the heat gun towards the bottom of the basket, moving around the basket, but keep moving rapidly all the time, otherwise you will have a whole burnt into the bag.

  • Next, use the heat gun on the handles, shrinking the wrap tight to the handles.

  • Finish your basket by using a rapid back-and-forth motion to shrink the wrap between the handle and the lip of the basket.

  • Accent with ribbons, bows, or other decorations.

How to Measure a Basket for the Correct Size Bag

  • With a flexible measuring tape, measure the entire Circumference (C) of the basket (the widest part, all the way around). Then add 10% to that measurement and divide by 2. This will give you the width of the bag you will need for the particular basket. Always round up to the nearest even number,  since bags will shrink to accomidate.

  • Measure the basket all the way around from top to bottom, add 10% and divide by 2. This will give you the correct height of the bag you will need. Should you not want the bag to go completely around the bottom you can deduct approximately 1 to 2 inches, this is a matter of preference. Our sizes are all listed, width first by height second, (ie: SB2226 is 22" wide)

  • After taking these steps to determine the correct size, if you are still not sure, please give us a call at:   1-800-845-6839
    West coast time, ask for Mike OR Jackie
